Spring Clean Green Smoothie

The arrival of spring brings with it the widespread, insistent message that it’s time to get on with “spring cleaning.”  We are encouraged to declutter and detoxify our lives. This concept applies not only to our surroundings, but also to our bodies and skin. At Sonäge, we believe in detoxing and one of our favorite ways to do so is by making smoothies and juicing. Through both, we find that it’s easy to incorporate our go-to fruits and vegetables to make something delicious and help our skin in the process. We like to add nutrient dense foods like avocadoes, which have monounsaturated fats that help keep skin moisturized and healthy. Avocadoes are also great for anti-aging purposes because they contain high levels of antioxidants like vitamin C, vitamin E and carotenoids.

Another high nutrient food that is perfect to incorporate is spinach. Being that it is rich in vitamin K and folate, spinach can help give you a clear complexion by minimizing acne, bruising on the skin and those dark circles around the eyes. When choosing ingredients for your smoothie, it is important to make sure that you include healthy fats and items rich in omega-3 fatty acids. These fats, which can be found in chia seeds, help plump up the look of skin, reduce inflammation and supply building blocks for healthier cells.

To jumpstart your skin and body detox, our friends at Reboot with Joe are sharing a fabulous recipe that combines a mix of fresh plant foods and healthy fats - making it perfect for spring.

Spring Clean Green Smoothie Serves: 1 - 2
